I'm still drawing every day, but taking a break from posting here while I work on some fundamentals in the analog realm. Will be back when I have something to show for it.

Sketches this morning based on a fun idea that came up yesterday. A water spirit oracle on a steampunk submarine or dreadnaught or exploratory vessel of some sort, she needs a containment suit to be mobile beyond her pool or the pipes that circulate through the ship.

Right now I'm drawing without any goals. I need to figure out a project to focus efforts around and move forward with that to get any real work or progress done.

Drae-a-Day 072: back in the saddle

Made it back from AX and a week's vacation last night, woke up this morning very early due to jet lag and spent much of it drinking coffee, unpacking and getting the place tidy-ish. In my vow to post something daily, have a rough sketch that was what I had time for before work.

I picked up Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics while Stateside, and as I digest it I expect there will be some more comic-ish endeavors appearing here in the coming days. Looking forward to it!

Drae-a-Day 069: as advertised

Decided enough was enough this morning and sketched up that infamous integer so we can move on with actually numbered Drae-a-Day posts. I like how this is coming out, might return to it later.

I'll be leaving on a business trip/vacation on the 30th and likely won't be posting here until I return, July 13th or thereabouts. May try to squeeze in some random stuff, we'll see what happens! Plan to post the next couple of days before leaving at any rate.

Did some sketching this morning using the marker tool in Sai, I like the effect it gives - simulates 'pencil and paper' better than the pencil tool does, really.

Japanese artist SNS Pixiv has a vehicle by which its members can propose group projects on themes for people to pitch in to, and I tried my hand a few weeks ago at the Muchigaku ("thick girls' school") meme. The above picture is as far as it got.
